Italian State Examinations

CONCLUDING EXAMINATION OF THE SECOND CYCLE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION ("ESAME DI MATURITÀ")

At the end of the fourth year, corresponding to the sixth year of the Uruguayan Baccalaureate (3ero BD), students must take an exam ("Esame di Maturità") which marks the end of the studies of the second cycle of Secondary Education. This exam allows our students to obtain the same Diploma as students in Italy and enables them to continue higher studies in local Universities, European Universities and Universities in all those countries where it is recognized.

For the examination a Commission is formed, presided by a School Director appointed by the Italian Ministry (MAECI), and composed of six teachers, three of whom are internal (who are part of the Scuola's teaching staff) and three external teachers appointed by the Italian Ministry (teachers working in Italian State or State-owned Institutions). Each candidate has to take two written tests (an Italian language test + a specific test related to the orientation) and a multidisciplinary oral test ("Colloquium") on the different examination subjects.

The purpose is to verify whether the student has achieved the graduation profile from the academic, cultural and professional point of view. Expressive abilities, logical-linguistic and critical abilities, knowledge, skills and competencies of the corresponding orientation are evaluated.
